Jewish News Syndicate – interview

Our world is experiencing fundamental changes. The neoliberal world order has failed, the balance of power is shifting, and a new era — the age of sovereignty — is unfolding.

In this new order, only those countries can remain successful that have a unique political and economic system tailored to their own, respective societies, that are able to ensure stability and protect their independence.

Hungary is a peace-loving nation. Therefore, we can only support diplomatic efforts that lead to genuine solutions and lasting peace. It is now clear to everyone that there can be no resolution to the Russian-Ukrainian war on the battlefield. Europe should have changed its strategy, but it has not done so. Thus we are now at an impasse, while the United States, under Trump, has been working on its own peace mission.

In line with this logic, Hungary has decided that it no longer wishes to remain a member of an international organisation – the International Criminal Court – that serves partisan, political objectives instead of the peaceful resolution of conflicts. The withdrawal was based on the realisation that an international court cannot act as a political actor and intervene in conflicts in a way that undermines the peace process. Such a move, like the arrest warrant for the Israeli Prime Minister, is not at all conducive to stability in the Middle East.

In the context of security challenges, Hungary has also taken a clear position on the issue of migration. During the 2015 crisis, 400,000 illegal immigrants arrived in Hungary, revealing an extremely serious risk to civilisation. A multicultural way of life that mixes civilisations and religions does not work. Moreover, migration from a Muslim background is increasing the level of anti-Semitism in Europe. The fight against anti-Semitism cannot therefore be successful if we allow in those who bring religious fundamentalism. That is why Hungary declares zero tolerance towards illegal migration, even if the country has to pay a daily fine of one million euros. In the era of sovereignty, new types of threats have also emerged. The USAID scandal, in which US taxpayers’ money was used to influence the policies of sovereign countries, including Hungary, has made it clearer than ever how the liberal network operates. It is the world’s biggest corruption scandal, undermining the credibility of the US government, which the Trump administration is trying to restore by shutting off the money taps. The danger now is that, with liberal positions weakened in Washington, Brussels will be the next headquarters and European taxpayers’ money will be used to keep up the pressure. This must be prevented. In this rapidly shifting world order, more and more people are looking for allies who value and preserve their own sovereignty. In many parts of the world, from the Middle East to the Americas, the majority believe that national sovereignty and stable, strong governance matter. There is also a change within Europe: the Patriot faction is growing, and members of the Patriot faction are winning national elections in succession. The future does not belong to liberal ideology, but to countries that are able to defend their own identity, culture and institutions. This is what I spoke about in my interview with the Jewish News Syndicate.
